I voted twice (I cheated). I chose an Ibanez because it was the best-sounding acoustic in my price range at the time of purchase, about 8-10 years ago. It has a nice sound, is easy to play, and has held up well. I also voted Martin because although it was out of my range, I picked one up to try out, just to see if I could tell what about it made it so much more expensive. Its tone was fuller, louder, and richer, and it was butter in my hands. There was nothing cut-rate about it, and it stands out in my memory 10 years later as the best guitar I've ever had in my hands, bar none.

There are a lot of luthier built guitars out there, especially in Canada (home of Larrivee, Seagull,Godin, La Patrie etc). I have two: a Morgan and a Laughlin - they are both beautiful instruments and made by guys I can go and talk to. Give a luthier built guitar a try and I am sure you will be pleased.

Currently playing an Ibanez MSC650VV. Took a while to get used to it but it's a versatile low-mid level guitar.

Love Martin guitars! Own an old 0-18 custom, and OM-21(new); have previously owned D-18 and a 000-28...have played many others. In my experience, there's nothing better for the price.
