wiring question

Postby WhiteEpi » Fri Apr 23, 2010 1:05 am

I tried my hand at replacing one of the two pick-ups on my epiphone electric guitar, but now there's a hum. It is more pronounced when I don't touch the guitar, and (*) so when I touch the strings or bridge. Is there something obvious I'm missing?

Did you ground the pick up. My ES-335 has a grounding wire that's very small and is easy to miss. When it came loose after 42 years i couldnt figure out what was wrong because i kept missing it. it is actually a little wire that is either going to ground to the braided wire or to some other metal part thier other than the pickup. Hope this helps. it did on my rig anyway.

Been a while since I looked at it, but since I also have an on-again-off-again short, I now have two reasons to open her up. Thanks for the note!
